For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Ford Mustang Mach-E are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The MINI Countryman SE doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

Both the Mustang Mach-E and Countryman SE have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The Mustang Mach-E has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The Countryman SE’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

Both the Mustang Mach-E and the Countryman SE have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front and rear side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, post-collision automatic braking systems, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E achieved a “Top Safety Pick” rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for the 2026 model year. This recognition was based on its impressive performance in the small overlap frontal crash test, updated moderate overlap front crash test, updated side impact crash test, headlight evaluations, pedestrian crash prevention testing, and vehicle-to-vehicle crash prevention testing. The Countryman SE has not yet been evaluated by the IIHS for 2026.

Ford’s powertrain warranty covers the Mustang Mach-E 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than MINI covers the Countryman SE. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 5 years or 60,000 miles. Coverage on the Countryman SE ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

There are almost 27 times as many Ford dealers as there are MINI dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Mustang Mach-E’s warranty.

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the Mustang Mach-E’s reliability 13 points higher than the Countryman SE.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Ford vehicles are better in initial quality than MINI vehicles. With 25 fewer problems per 100 vehicles, JD Power ranks Ford higher than MINI.

The Mustang Mach-E’s standard electric motor produces 23 lbs.-ft. more torque (387 vs. 364) than the Countryman SE’s electric motors. The Mustang Mach-E eAWD’s standard electric motors produces 17 more horsepower (325 vs. 308) and 136 lbs.-ft. more torque (500 vs. 364) than the Countryman SE’s electric motors. The Mustang Mach-E ER eAWD’s standard electric motors produces 62 more horsepower (370 vs. 308) and 136 lbs.-ft. more torque (500 vs. 364) than the Countryman SE’s electric motors. The Mustang Mach-E ER’s standard electric motor produces 64 more horsepower (372 vs. 308) and 23 lbs.-ft. more torque (387 vs. 364) than the Countryman SE’s electric motors. The Mustang Mach-E GT Performance/Rally’s standard electric motors produces 172 more horsepower (480 vs. 308) and 336 lbs.-ft. more torque (700 vs. 364) than the Countryman SE’s electric motors.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Mustang Mach-E has standard 19-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the Countryman SE. The Mustang Mach-E GT’s 20-inch wheels are larger than the 19-inch wheels optional on the Countryman SE.

The Mustang Mach-E offers an available driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads or off-road. The Countryman SE’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Mustang Mach-E Select/Premium’s wheelbase is 11.5 inches longer than on the Countryman SE (117.5 inches vs. 106 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Mustang Mach-E is 1.3 inches wider in the front and 1.3 inches wider in the rear than on the Countryman SE.

The Mustang Mach-E GT handles at .92 G’s, while the Countryman SE pulls only .85 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

For better maneuverability, the Mustang Mach-E’s turning circle is .6 feet tighter than the Countryman SE’s (38.1 feet vs. 38.7 feet).

The front grille of the Mustang Mach-E uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The Countryman SE doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The Mustang Mach-E has 2.9 inches more front legroom, 1.9 inches more front shoulder room, .8 inches more rear headroom, 1.1 inches more rear legroom and 1.1 inches more rear shoulder room than the Countryman SE.

The Mustang Mach-E has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the Countryman SE with its rear seat up (29.7 vs. 24.8 cubic feet). The Mustang Mach-E has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the Countryman SE with its rear seat folded (59.7 vs. 56.2 cubic feet).

In case you lock your keys in your vehicle, or don’t have them with you, you can let yourself in using the Mustang Mach-E’s exterior PIN entry system. The Countryman SE doesn’t offer an exterior PIN entry system, and its Assist eCall can’t unlock the doors if the vehicle doesn’t have cell phone reception or the driver can’t contact the service.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Mustang Mach-E has a standard rear fixed intermittent wiper with a full on position. The rear wiper standard on the Countryman SE only has an intermittent setting, so in a hard rain visibility isn’t as good.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the Mustang Mach-E has standard extendable sun visors. The Countryman SE doesn’t offer extendable visors.

Standard air-conditioned seats in the Mustang Mach-E Premium keep the driver and front passenger comfortable and take the sting out of hot seats in Summer. The Countryman SE doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats.

The Mustang Mach-E is available in both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The Countryman SE doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.

Consumer Reports® recommends the Ford Mustang Mach-E, based on reliability, safety and performance. The MINI Countryman SE isn't recommended.

A group of representative automotive journalists from North America selected the Mustang Mach-E as the 2021 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year. The Countryman SE has never been chosen.
